Satellite Modem
The satellite modem utilizes the advanced technology
of proprietary digital signal processing techniques. This
design eliminates analog circuitry to perform modem signal
processing, resulting in higher reliability and reduced
its size. It fully meets or exceed all the application
requirements in IESS-308, 309 and 310 criterion.
There are many types of satellite modem and one can flexibly
make his choice according to requirements of user service
transmissions.
Wancom provides satellite modem operating at 2.4Kbps-155Mbps.
According to their current services and future development,
users can choose among different types of satellite modems
for their equipment which operate at 2.4Kbps-5Mbps or
9.6Kbps-9.312Mbps, or up to 45Mbps or 155Mbps.
The satellite modems allow many modes of modulating, mostly
support BPSK and QPSK mode. When transmitting high-speed
data, 8PSK or 16QAM modulation techniques provide maximum
bandwidth efficiency, particularly when used in conjunction
with the concatenated Reed-Solomon Codec.
The satellite modems provide super correcting process
to ensure high reliability of the satellite data transmissions.
They allow FEC1/2, 3/4, 2/3, 5/6, 7/8 forward error correcting
to provide data integrity.
In accordance with users' terminal equipment, satellite
modems provide digital interface (EIA-232, EIA-422, V.35,
G.703) submitted to many industry standards, and users
can optionally choose software configurations.
Wancom provides satellite modems that allow completed
local/ remote control and supervision. It is convenient
for functions and operations of the equipment. These modems
perform local/remote monitor and control on carrier frequency,
data rate, signal electric level, carrier testing, system
alarms, and fault detection, etc.. Besides, it has a unique
integrated self-testing function that automatically conducts
BER testing without the use of expensive noise generators
and BER test.
In order to overcome rain attenuation of Ku-band frequency,
Wancom enable the satellite modem with the unique automated
uplink power control (AUPC) which is provided to allow
the remote control on transmitting power of the end equipment
and therefore effectively solve problems coming along
with the attenuation.
It is often seen that users are confused in choosing the
right satellite modem according to their existing services
and future requirements of service expansion. In this
case, Wancom provides satellite modems where all optional
functions are capable of upgrading on the site.
Different types of protection switches can be used with
the modem, making field replacement or upgrades of existing
system easy and cost effective.
When the system is power-off, its configuration will stay
available for one year.
Besides, Wancom also provides DVB Satellite Modulator
and Demodulator which allow transmission of DVB stream
up to 100Mbps. It provides a satellite receiver in conjunction
with a satellite modulator to comprise a satellite broadcast
system. An integrated multiplexer in a satellite modulator
and an integrated demultiplexer in a satellite receiver
are able to transmit multiplexing information.
