INTRODUCTION
The SuperCache is a specialized
system for networks where traffic exceeds the capacity.
Rather than investing in increasing bandwidth, The SuperCache
avoids traffic overloads by intelligently storing frequently
requested web contents, freeing precious bandwidth for
other requests and traffic.
Far more than simple web caching and mirroring, The SuperCache
headend PUSHES web content into the subscribing caches
via reliable multicast transmission path like satellite
or cable. It is the best Internet distribution system
for ISPs; carriers and other customers who want shrink
their bandwidth need dramatically.
CACHING&MIRRORING
The SuperCache provides both Internet
proxy and caching features. Rather than reloading the
same Web page repeatedly and tying up limited network
resources, it stores the visited contents, which are delivered
at lightning speeds to users when they request
The SuperCache can also be set to download scheduled web
sites and Web pages for local storage at idle time. You
can even set the download size and depth of a web site.
Users feel like that the web sites they love are just
on their PCs.
The SuperCache also supports HTTP server-accelerating
mode to decrease the delay caused by firewalls.
MULTICAST DISTRIBUTION
The SuperCache distribution solution
avoids congestion and long delay. It is multicasting popular
web content to caches at subscribers' continually.
Predetermined popular content from web sites, such as
MSN.com are continually pre-fetched and pushed to every
edge caches in the network.
Based on users' time schedule, hit rates and other factors,
The SuperCache headend can analyze URL requests from subscriber
caches, decides which sites are popular. These popular
sites are automatically pushed and updated. Fresh, updated
content is delivered via continuous satellite or cable
multicasting 24 hours, 7days.
THE SUPERCACHE FEATURES AND SPECIFICATIONS
It
actively provides web content on TCP or multicast. Popular
sites are pushed to every subscriber at the same time
which reduces traffic flow, save bandwidth and increases
access speed dramatically.
All
configurations are completed in a browser such as I.E
or Netscape Navigator.
It
supports HTTP, FTP, GOPHER, WAIS services, supports SSL,
ICP, HTCP, CARP, WCCP protocols, has DNS transmission
buffer function.
It
provides perfect access control and diary management functions.
2. Technical Specifications
The SuperCache mainly consists of two parts: hardware
and function software.
¨J Hardware part:
The SuperCache has two components, headend SuperCache
and subscriber SuperCache:
Headend
SuperCache: 512 MB memory, 36GB SCSI hard disc, 10/100Base-T
Intel NICs, supports memory up to 4GB and 4 Xeon CPUs.
Subscriber
SuperCache: PIII Xeon, 256 MB memory, 18GB SCSI hard disc,
10/100Base-T
Intel NICs
Or PIII650, 128MB memory, 18GB SCSI hard disc, 10/100
Base-T Intel NICs
Software part:
The SuperCache software consists of four parts: operating
system platform, kernel function module, interface function
module, and setup interface.
Operating
system platform
Since the kernel function module and the interface function
module of the SuperCache are written in the standard
C language, it may be operated on Linux, FreeBSD, IRIX,
and SunOS/Solaris. Considering of system stability and
technical advance, the RedHat 6.1 is chosen as operating
system platform.
Kernel
function module
The kernel function module includes a main program,
a domain name system inquiry program, an additional
program for rewriting request and status identification,
and a user's program for management.
Interface
function module
The interface function module sends and gets relevant
parameters to and from the kernel function module. It
includes the following six parts: basic parameter setup,
management of users, tabling of access control, rules
of access control, automatically download, and diary
management.
Setup
interface part
Users can remotely configure SuperCache with the setup
interface via any standard browser such as IE.
3. Why SuperCache?
¨JEffective save of bandwidth
¨JIncreasing Web access speed
¨JReducing amounts of network flow
and saving expenses
¨JBest choice if the physical link is
Satellite or cable.
